We are having a Winter ONEderland theme party this weekend for our DDs 1st bday. I'm going to have many different winter themed foods along with a baked potato bar. How can I keep the potatoes hot on the buffett? If I wrap them in foil and put in a large crockpot on warm will that work? Any other suggestions?
What about hot chocolate? Any suggestions for making a large batch of hot chocolate and the best way to keep it hot?
TIA
Re: keeping food hot
Potatoes can be done in the crock pot without the foil. Just be sure to stir often and add milk and butter as needed. If it's big enough party you can use a roaster also.
I'd make the hot chocolate on the stove and put it into carafes.
Do you know anyone who has a large coffee pot? I'm thinking the large, industrial size you'd see at a church or a buffet. Ask around, you might be surprised at who has one of these. I put the word out for our wedding and had 5 people calling me!
Anyway, I'd just run some vinegar through, followed by two or three flushes of water to clean out the coffee residue. Then you could either figure out the ratio of water to coffee or you could just heat the water and have a hot chocolate bar.
I definitely recommend using a warming dish for the potato bar, they get cold fast
And you could probably also rent the carafe that PP is talking about
