How much do you spend on school supplies for the year?
Just curious what your average is for a year. I was lucky this year; for all of Maddy's supplies the grand total was $40.
Last year it was $80 and the year before that around $70.
BTW, Old Navy has a ton of clothes on clearance and I picked up 6 pairs of shorts, 2 skirts and a pair of khaki pants for under $30 for her as well.
Re: How much do you spend on school supplies for the year?
Thats not bad for her supplies! As a teacher I am always trying to help save the parents on those- but the past few years the team has come up with the list. this year I am lucky and glad to say that on our grade level we came up with a very short general list that each teacher is going to add too at Meet your Teacher night. I am planning on the bare minimum and only adding a few things that I will absolutely use! Yay!
Howdy, howdy!
Well, I am a teacher and I spend all kinds of money on supllies.
I just spent $50 at Party City for decorations. (Okay, make that around $38 since I had a coupon) Not to mention the $30 or I spent at Target. (Luckily I had some gift cards that parents gave as an end of the year present)
I haven't even been to the book store yet -- I always buy tons of books every year.
I used to buy everything for my classroom out of my own pocket -- I stopped doing that in the past few years. But sometimes it is just easier buying it myself than jumping through the hoops of picking out what I want and then getting the money back from admin. (I stopped buying the toys/manipulatives -- that was a HUGE step for me . . . hee hee)
All that being said, I write off everything I buy on my taxes . . . so I guess it is something.
Let's see. DSD's mom always does the school supplies shoppping, she doesn't like for us to do it and we don't push the issue. From looking at the list for this year I would say it costs between $40-50 just for the supplies on the list. If you include a backpack you're at $60-70.
We always stock up on school and art supplies for homework and those unexpected school projects. That costs $20-30. Also, since her backpack from Target fell apart by Christmas, we bought DSD an L.L.Bean backpack which lasted the rest of the year. She could use it again this year but her mom wants to buy her another backpack. We'll hold on to the L.L.Bean for just in case her new backpack falls apart like the old one.
