::Stinky and L&R::

Ax has started indepent play with toys. He used to only play with toys if Jake started it, but the other day he picked up the sheep and shook it. I was so happy, I welled up a bit.

He also has had two days and nights with no accidents! (He has been with us less than a week).

H and I decided we would keep letting him eat off the floor for one more days, then we are going to try to transition to a bowl or plate. His personality is opening up more and more and he is going to be put to the test when we have five people over this weekend. I'm hoping he won't cower the entire time. Cross your fingers.

Re: ::Stinky and L&R::

  • Yay for progress!

    How long will you guys have him?

  • The general assumption is, until he gets adopted. H is set to graduate in either May or August. At that time, we may move. If we plan to move, we would either have to give him back or adopt him.

    Of all the fosters we have had, we had Taz the longest (4 months). We only had Bennie (the puppy) for 2 weeks, and the others have hung out for 6 weeks to 2 months.

  • Aw, that is wonderful!  He is so lucky to have you guys to help him.

    I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929
  • I'm jealous of your 2 days accident free. The longest we've gone is one and a half. But she's still a puppy, and we did get crate training done with no effort, so I guess you give and take.
  • Duck - does your puppy like treats? If so, give him one after he goes outside and praise him like gold just fell out of his butt. That is what worked best with Jake.

  • Oh, we do. She's not particularly food-motivated, so I'm not sure how well it's working. Half the time she drops the treat and runs after leaves. Maybe I should find new treats.
  • Ax isn't food motivated AT ALL, which is tres weird for a pug. We're pretty sure he was a puppy mill dog, sold for cheap because he was sterile. I thinkn he is stoked not to be stuck in a cage where he has to eat his own poo to keep it clean. I think he might be internally motivated.
