  • Those look good! I will have to check some of those out for sure! Let me know if you hit any of those up. I have been to Rolando's and Don PePe's - YUM for Don PePe's!

  • I just wanted to add my two cents.

Bongos shouldn't even be on the list.  They want like 20 bucks for basic ropa vieja when my MIL or even I make it 1000 times better at home.  Overpriced, not that good, and not authentic.  Its all Cisco products.  Nothing is home made.

Just wanted to warn you if you haven't been there.  I'm all for going there to dance, drink, and have appetizers.  My dh used to work at Sosa's in front and we spent a lot of time there.

Our friend tricked us into going there for dinner a few years back when I already knew I didn't like it and I was even more annoyed when I saw how expensive everything was.  When my dh worked at Sosa we never actually paid full price for it.

Ok.  Two cents over. Its great to have a good time and maybe appetizers but not for a good Cuban meal.  Sorry for barging in. :)

  • Oh yeah and I second that Don Pepes and Rolandos are good.  I would also recommend Cafe Madrid.  They cater all our family events pretty much.

They have killer Spanish food and lots of Cuban dishes and if you go at lunch the specials are like 6.99.  That's including rice, beans, the entree, a salad, tostones or maduros, and yummy buttery garlic bread.  I always have to take a huge nap after I go.

Its in the Publix Shopping Center on Curry Ford and Conway.

  • T - I SO agree with your post about Bongo's! I have lived in Orlando for 24 years and have been there twice. Both times - NOT my choice! Even when I worked down at Downtown Disney I never ate there. Their food is really dry and lacks that intense flavor I am use to.

Rolondo's can be hit or miss unfortunately :( I went once and it was super YUM then when back with my mom, dad, and Justin and it was HORRIBLE! I dunno what happened.

  • Yeah I haven't been to Rolandos since like the second year D and I were dating so you can imagine how long ago that was.  It may have gone downhill since then.  I'd have to go again to know for sure.
  • Thanks for the tips ladies!!

I agree about Bongos, its sad the Estefans let it get so un-authentic.
