Book Rec: Hunger Games
I sometimes lurk on the Nest Book Club and they all rave about this book. It totally lived up to the hype. I couldn't put it down. It is a trilogy but only the first two books have been released. The 2nd was as good as the first. The 3rd is coming out this year. Also it is a YA book, which I don't normally read.
Synopsis
In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she is forced to represent her district in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before-and survival.

I hope to god the synopsis wasn't written by the author of the book, because that last sentence makes no damn sense.
Who is the author? I thought I was up on my YA, but I've never heard of this.
it's a series. on one hand, harry potter. on the other, twilight. i am torn.
like sweet valley high, the awesomest ya series ever. i just finished the one with the arsonist. it was awesome, fyi.
