Poll: Are you the only gay person at your workplace?
Or if you work in a large setting, the only one in your division/department/etc?
Re: Poll: Are you the only gay person at your workplace?
Nope. My wife works in the same division.
Seriously, though... there are a few of us around here (2 others I can think of offhand). I'm curious to know if any more people will "out" themselves to us now that a message got sent around to the whole division (~200 people, gulp!) about us having babies. Hmm...
IUI #3 gave us the best 2nd anniv. gift ever: 2 babies! (born 03/09/10)
Peanut and Little Man are getting so big! 2 years old already!
finally blogging again at This Will Be: An Adventure
Yes.
Well, my immediate department is only a few people - so going by that, I'm the only one.
But I am definitely not the only one if you widen the scope a bit. There is another gay person who sits within eyesight of my desk, lol. And there are a handful of others who I and my coworkers interact with regularly (mostly men). My office is very diverse, in nearly every sense of the word.
My last two jobs - I was the only one. Back in Pittsburgh, there was one other out gay woman at my job.

There are a few male residents that rotate through in the clinic where I work and 1 other male social worker in my department.
In the organization as a whole, there are quite a few that I know of/suspect - though it seems to be far more men than women.
When I started working here all of the docs that I work with had to tell me about their gay realtives. 1 gay daughter, 2 gay sisters, 1 gay neice.
is hilarious! I was in a meeting once with the head of another organization who said, out of the blue: "Oh, did you know my assistant's also [drops voice to a whisper] gay? And my daughters a [pause and wince] lesbian."
I think I know who you are counting, there are a few more...in fact, a woman just out of the blue started talking to me about her girlfriend while I was up in Admin last week...we are out there!
My office is only 4 others and I'm the only one.
My grad program there are 5 of us.
In my doula community I only know of one other doula.
At my last place of employment I thought I was the only one, but there ended up being 3 of us.
I am the only one. I have 5 people in my office. However, only one person I work with knows I'm gay.
I work for a very small, very religious company, and NO it's not a church.
In my immediate team of seven people, I'm the only gay person. (I have had my suspicions about one of them, but I think she would never say anything to me and isn't out to anyone at work, if she is in fact gay.)
In my larger department of 200+, I personally know of at least three, but we're pretty spread out so I really don't know.
In my total agency of 650,000, yeah, I'm sure there are one or two more
In my department I am the only one, but in the next department there are three that I know of. I am assuming there are probably more but I just don't know them. ( and I am the only one on the night shift)

I am SO envious of this! I don't know if I posted anything about this, but I recently found out my school system fires teachers if they tell their students that they're GLBT. Yikes. I sort of thought the union would have my back? No.
Wow...That's just....wow.
mandykatie, that is so sad
I'm the only one in my department (about 25) but I know there's a few more in the building and heaven knows my university is pretty "pro"-gay.
