I'm back on the gym wagon, and I'm feeling better already!
I'd like to hear from you what your routines are. Do you do cardio vs. weight training on specific days? A little of both each time? What are your favorite workout activities?
Re: Fitness Girls: Routines?
Usually both on the same day, unless I'm really tired, then just cardio. Right now I have a five day split on training with 30min cardio sessions those days, plus an hour long cardio session on the sixth day.
Favorite workout activity is a good book and the free motion elliptical - an hour just flies by. After that definitely shoulder routines.
I used to do both whenever I'd work out, which was usually 2-3 times a week. I'd do a good amount of stretching, then hit the cardio, then some light weights and wrap up with more stretching. I also did spin class once a week with a girlfriend, which I loved.
I'm OK with the gym, but what really kept me on track with my fitness goals was finding fun activities to do with DH or my mom each week -- like hiking dog-friendly trails or walking a number of miles at the beach. I rarely skipped out on those, whereas the gym could easily get tossed to the side.
Now that I'm pregnant, I do more of the latter and haven't been to the gym (so no weights) in months. I hope I can get back into my routine when the baby arrives. GL to you!
I have recently started working out with MH, so we lift 4 days a week (different body parts each day) and do cardio/walking on the other 3 days. In the past I have also done weights followed by 30-40 mins of cardio 3-4 days a week, but found that that schedule often led to overtraining (or burning out and quitting if I didn't have an end goal for working out like the wedding).
My favorite activity was running but I haven't done that in a long time. Would like to start up again and maybe do the Nike Women's Half Marathon in October. For cardio I would also do the stepmill, it kicks your bootay big time!
