Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation

Has anyone used their OB/GYN practice (675 St. Clair, 14th floor) for maternity care and the delivery of their baby?

DH and I are likely going to TTC later this year.  I've been using NMFF for my GYN care for years, but not sure how they would be for OB (everytime I go, it seems like a see a different doc; they are all good, there's just no continuity).

Most people downtown mention that they see their doc at "Northwestern" but at looking further into it, it seems like these are private practices affiliated with NW, not at the hospital itself.

Just wondering if anyone had feedback on NMFF OB.

Thanks!

Beautiful baby girl born at 34 weeks due to vasa previa.   Finally home after 15 day NICU stay!

Re: Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation

  • My internal doc (does my yearly but she's not an OBGYN) is part of Northwestern Memorial Physicians Group (201 E Huron). My gastroenterologist is with Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation.

I have no clue what the difference is between the two practices. It's pretty confusing

  • I go to NMPG like the prior poster.  I delivered at Prentice.  At NMPG, you get whichever doctor is on call when you go into labor- I lucked out and got my OB/GYN.
  • I used to work for physicians office affiliated with NW.  There are many private OBGYN practices affiliated with NW.  Many docs have their own offices nearby NW and then are affiliated with NW using the hospital for serious illnesses, surgery, delivery, etc.

I am currently switching to an OBGYN at NW but haven't seen her yet so I can't give you any feedback.  Here are some offices near NW.... I think all are affiliated with NW but you'd have to check to be sure.  Many have more than a few docs that work there.  You usually have an appointment with each while preg so you can meet them all and then when you go into labor you see whoever is on-call. At least that's what 4 of my friends have told me and they all go to different OBGYN offices.

  • I go to someone else who practices at NMH. You should be fine w/ someone in that practice. You have enough time to determine if you like a specific OB in that office. I don't know any people in that practice, though.
