can i recycle milk cartons?

normally we buy in plastic (no reusable glass options at our supermarkets) but we do get the occasional carton.  are those recyclable?  if so, with the paper?  can i pull off the plastic spout and recycle it?  tia!

You have to check with your city's/town's recycling policies. Every place has different rules for what you can and can't recycle.

Do you mean the plastic jugs, or the coated cardboard? I thought the coated cardboard was completely unrecyclable, which bothers me.

My town takes milk cartons & juice boxes (I just double-checked), but they are recycled in the bin with metal, glass, etc. and not together with the paper (which is separated out in a paper bag or bundled).

Oh, I'm with Waste Management (not Rabanco) but I checked and I can recycle them! DOH!

You can't recycle the plastic spouts. - Lids and such aren't recyclable unless they have a # on them.  You may be able to recycle the container.  I've been reusing mine to make ice blocks to fill our extra freezer space, as recommended by a nestie on here.
