s/o starting from seed; recommended mail-order?
There are so many choices online, which have you had success with? I would like one w/good descriptions of the varieties as well. TIA
Re: s/o starting from seed; recommended mail-order?
I'm using Seed Savers this year.
I'm very anti-Monsanto, so I won't use any company that sells their seeds. With their purchase of Seminis, that pool is highly limited.

I refuse to buy GMO seeds (Monsanto for sure, Burpee seems to be a grey area), so we will be buying from Southern Exposure (tried and true varieties for the Mid Atlantic region) and Baker Creek. This will be my first year, so I can only go on reputation, not personal experience with them.
Great thanks! Thats exactly what I was looking for. Seeds of Change looks good too.
I def want non-Monsanto-affiliated and non-GMO.
In a nutshell, they're evil. Among some of their glorious products are Agent Orange, DDT, rBGH, PCBs...
In relation to seeds, most of the complaint has to do with their use of GMOs, the creation of the Terminator gene (creating plants that develop sterile seeds), legal harassment of farmers.
And, obviously, they have a completely crap environmental record. Dumping tons of mercury and PCB in Anniston, AL, more illegal dumping in the UK....
