Sewing 101 Class at JoAnn

Has anyone taken this class? If so, how did you like it? I am planning to start the class on January 30th at the East Colonial store.

If anyone else is interested in taking the course you can join me! The cost of the class is $35 plus the cost of supplies. They encourage you to bring your own machine, so you can practice using it!

Re: Sewing 101 Class at JoAnn

  • I took that class at the Waterford Lakes store a few months ago. It mainly focuses on how to use a sewing machine and read a pattern, and we made a pillowcase. It was fun!
  • Katie,

I am a self-taught sew-er, but that class will probably be very beneficial!! Let me know if you ever take a quilting class, I wanna take that!!

  • Thanks Ladies! I got a sewing machine for Christmas, and although I've wanted one for a long time--it's also been a very long time since I've actually used one. 7th grade home-economics to be exact! lol... so to be honest I'm a bit intimidated. I also don't think it helps that I got a cricut for Christmas too... I've got too many cool things to play with and very little time to focus on each of them! lol...

Court06--just a pillowcase... not a fancy pillow? The instructor told me we will have 3 options of items to make...

Alyssa--it will probably be a while before I take a quilting class... I've been wanting to take the cake decorating courses for a few years now. So after the sewing class I'm going to start taking the cake decorating classes!

  • In the one I went to (at Waterford Lakes) it was just a regular pillowcase, but that is nice if they give you options of things to make! I got a sewing machine for Christmas too so I am thinking of retaking that class now that I actually understand the machine a bit better. :)
