Can I sue medical billing?

These people have me so incredibly honked.  9 months and two threatened collections and the account is still effed up.  They have my $15.  I know it's not much, but they were going to ruin my credit over it.  I'd love to take them to small claims court.

I told the woman I'm a stay at home now.  I have all the time in the world to call and harass them.

Re: Can I sue medical billing?

  • You can try... Are they saying you owe them money, or what?

  • We saw a doc in April at Urgent care.  It should have been a $25 copay.  They billed wrong at $40.  For 3 months it was "Ignore the bill and we'll fix it."  Then came collection 1.

The said "Pay the $25 and we'll fix it."  I paid.  3 months later came collection notice two.

I paid the $15 to protect my credit and they said they'd fix it.  It seems the only time they do anything on the account was when I call.  It's been another 3 months.  It was fine before, but now they have what's equivalent to my monthly lunch allowance.

  • I may not have much money, but I sure have a lot of time to call.
  • Do you want me to come beat them up?  I'm in just the mood to beat someone up this morning.
  • Heffa her name is Julie.  Someone needs to knock her around.  Quotes from yesterday.

"I don't like having this on my desk this long either."  Idiot- YOU HAVE THE POWER TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!

"Maybe I should talk to my supervisor."- Really after 9 MONTHS you're JUST thinking about that?

"Maybe I should talk to my supervisor."

Yeah, maybe she should...just long enough to get fired for gross incompetence.*

    * Okay, I don't know that she's the most to blame here, vs. her manager or accounting or whomever.  You're closer to the situation--is she the one who should be fired over this?

  • Oh, 6. Seriously?

You need to talk to her supervisor. Now. Not tomorrow, not after lunch, NOW. You need to firmly explain to him the situation, your insurance, and your displeasure with having to personally deal with an issue that should have been fixed months ago. Tell him you expect a check in the mail by 5pm today to you from Urgent Care for the mistake.

Call your insurance company. Talk to the claims department. Explain, in the same firm tone, that this issue is ongoing and MUST BE RESOLVED TODAY.

It may not get resolved today but obviously nice isn't working for you. Time to show them you're not a freaking doormat, because that's how they're going to treat you if you don't escalate this.

  • Insurance is actually right for once.  They've paid according to the billing.  The billing is just fubar.

She did offer to let me talk to the supervisor yesterday, after she told me the supervisor was out for meetings.  Gee thanks.

$15 really isn't much, but darnit they were willing to send me to collections over it.  Must be important to them.  It really is my monthly lunch money too.

*forehead smack* Julie needs to find a new job.

  • Yea, it would be one thing if they called you even steven, but to send you to collections over their idiocy is absolutely unacceptable. You need to get this resolved, so in 6 months you don't pull up your credit report to find negative reporting for an amount of $457 owed, for the $15 plus interest.

That's why I already paid the money.  I don't trust them a bit.
