MinM

We've been accident free for 2 days! I feel like just saying (typing?) it out loud (?) the other day was magic.

Herbert is being rewarded with some semi-unattended free time. So far she's spent most of it peering through the baby gate at me, but it's nice to not have to be in the kitchen with her all day.

Re: MinM

  • Huzzah! Ax had an accident last night :( We heard him scratching on the carpet (he does that little dance after he pees) ::sigh::

It just takes time (repeats to self ad neauseum).

  • Yeah, I'm fully expecting to pay for this later, but I've got to start giving her some free time eventually. It helps that the kitchen floor is hard wood, so we haven't had to deal with carpet stains yet. She's outgrowing the babygates fast though. She'll be able to clear them in another few weeks I think.
  • Hey, remember Finnigan could clear the gates and Taz - and they were pugs. It might happen sooner than you think!

  • Yeah, it's less a matter of "can she do it" and more a matter of "when will she figure out she can do it." It's only a matter of time. She's escaped from her crate twice, though I suspect that in a sleepy haze H just hasn't latched it properly. The first time she did it the babygate was also open so she found her way into the living room, but then she didn't know what to do so she sat down and started barking. The second time, a few of her toys were moved around so we know she'd come out to play, but by the time we found her she was sleeping in the crate with the door open. So at least she hasn't learned to be destructive yet.
