XP: 2010 Veggie Garden list posted
Re: XP: 2010 Veggie Garden list posted
My list is much simpler:
Raspberries (whatever kind we already have)
Gr. Beans (whatever bush bean the co-op sells)
Potatos (whatever I can find)
Strawberries (whatever kind we already have)
Tomatos (whatever the co-op sells)
Hot Peppers and Bell Peppers (whatever the local garden store has)
Various undetermined squash
wow! good for you!! dh is the gardener in our family, but i'm pretty sure he hasn't thought about what he's putting in it this year.
it will likely include though: tomatoes, bell peppers, hot peppers, jalapenos, broccoli, butter lettuce, spinach, sunflowers, strawberries, zucchini, butternut squash, acorn squash, brussells sprouts, onion, and hopefully snap peas. and hemi would like carrots, but he didn't get them last year since it makes it hard to keep him out of the garden.
That's awesome, and I'm so jealous that you have space to grow all of that!
I'm trying a container garden this year and told Jeff I'm staring "small." I got our seeds this week and I'm so excited! We're doing tomatoes, peas, green beans, jalapeno peppers and hot cherry peppers. I also ordered some garlic and regular chives, and some gerbera daisies to put in our window boxes.
where did you order your seeds from chica?

Awesome! We ordered our seeds last week from www.highmowingseeds.com, they only do organic seeds and nothing from Monsanto! We're doing:
-Sweet and hot peppers
-2 kinds of Tomatoes (for canning and eating)
-Snap and English peas
-Cucumbers
-Bush beans
-onions (bought these as sets from Johnny Seeds)
-Yukon gold and russet potatoes
-Carrots
-Eggplant
-Spinach
-Lots of herbs (probably rosemary, oregano, basil, thyme, camomile, and cilantro)
I'm still working out my list. I got carried away just marking things in the catalogue (from www.heirloomseeds.com) and ended up with like a $200 order!
For sure:
tomatoes. Tomatoes. Tomatoes! I LOVE tomatoes. I could practically live on them.
LOTS of lemon basil. I can easily eat a bunch, or even two, per week.
lettuces/greens
English peas
lemon cucumbers
carrots
We're ordering from Seed Savers. The nice thing is their transplants (peppers & tomatoes) are grown and ship from here in WI (outside Madison).
We've got 375 sqare feet of raised beds. Even when you add in companion plants (flowers, herbs) it ends up being a lot. But I love it. We're actually considering adding a 4th bed (makes for better crop rotation).

Blech, I'm ashamed to admit that I got them from Burpee. It didn't even cross my mind that Monsanto might be involved in veggies. Coming from the midwest I'm used to Monsanto being all corn and soybeans and stuff. Not tomatoes. :-p I'll do better next year!
