Wellness--or lack thereof!!
Happy Friday ladies! This week sucked worse than last for me as far as eating right and exercising goes. I ate out for lunch and dinner twice and did absolutely NO exercise all week. I am not going to beat myself up about it because I was working late most days this week.
So two questions: 1. How did everyone else do this week with eating right and exercising?
2. How do you make time for exercise on busy days (do you workout in the AM or do you just vow to do better the next day)?
Re: Wellness--or lack thereof!!
I haven't started running yet The gym has been crazy crowded with the New Years resolution crowd and the treadmills have been almost totally taken.
I have been doing 30-45 min of cardio 3-4 times a week and I'm still on my regular weigh lifiting schedule of 2 times a week for 30 min plus a circuit class.
To be honest, without my trainer, I don't go to the gym that's why I've been training so long. I know exactly what to do, I just won't do it. I have no self motivation!!
We've been doing great with eating, planning meals on the weekend and cooking a few times a week and packing left overs for lunch. I get almost all of my recipes from myrecipes.com. You can search for recipes by publication so I pick Cooking Light.
These are some of my current faves:

I did get a LITTLE workout here this past week. I'm trying to get my butt motivated. I have put on 10 pounds after I lost 56! Not a good thing and I've got to keep off the weight. So I have to do more than one tiny workout a week.
I find that if I don't just MAKE time to do it I don't HAVE time to do it. I have made every excuse in the book since last July and I know that I cannot continue to do that. My body is not getting younger and I need to stay active to stay healthy. Family history of cancer, osteoporosis, and everything else!
So I am on a mission starting tomorrow (I wanted to start today but I didn't sleep last night so I slept this afternoon before work.) I have a trainer in my house for bike riding while it is raining, I have videos. I have our Wii Sport. I have equipment. So I have NO excuse!
I actually did better this week. I got some exercise in the beginning of the week, went out jogging 2 days. I've tried to do better eating, but I did go out for lunch 2 days this week.
I don't exercise in the morning, I don't do much of anything in the morning! I try to do it in the afternoon but sometimes it gets pushed off b/c of running errands etc. I think making some special time just for working out in the morning is a good idea.
I've been trying to get back onto a good eating and exercising schedule since the honeymoon (definitely pigged out on that trip and it was wonderful). I got a cold (guessing from the plane trip home) so my first week back wasn't so great, plus I was having fun playing house and baking some yummy treats. Now I finally am getting back on track.
I like to exercise in the mornings. I try to do 30-40 min of cardio and take my dogs for a walk. If I have some classes in the morning then I will just make sure to do my workout once I get home. I always feel much better once I've done my exercise for the day. I also inherited my parent's super old Nordic Track and have it in my bedroom, so I can do a workout while watching my favorite TV shows at night if I didn't do it in the morning. Definitely helps make the time pass!
I agree that the best way to make sure you get it done is to just make time for it. If you leave it for just some spare time, it's never gonna get done. You just have to plan it into your day. And then maybe once you get a routine going and start enjoying feeling healthy you will actually look forward to it (hopefully!).
It's been tough! My legs are pretty tired from this morning's workout. I got the idea from Oxygen magazine. I love that mag! It looks intimidating because of the really cut women, but it totally focuses on workouts. It's been a great tool for me to get ideas.
