Downtown indy apts

Hello all, one of my friends is moving to indy the end of August, her husband wants to live downtown -- They have a dog and a 2 year old.  Do anyone have resccomendations for downtown apts that are safe and dog/kid friendly?

I went to Butler, so I am pretty familiar with Indy, but I don't have specific apts to recommend to her.

TIA!!!

Re: Downtown indy apts

  • I lived downtown at Canal Square Apartments for 3 years, and they are ok.  I think people on the first 2 floors can have dogs.  I don't recall seeing many children in the building though.

I had a friend who lived at The Gardens of Canal Court, and those apartments are bigger and they can also rent garages, so that might be easier for someone with kids.

Those are really the only two places I'm familiar with.  Hope this helps!

  • We looked into Riley Towers when we first moved... a tad pricey but great views, ammenities, and kid and pet friendly...
  • With the downtown real estate market being flooded with condos many owners are renting out of desperation at very reasonable prices.  Numerous houses are in the same situation.  We sold our condo, very greatful for the sale, and had no problem finding a home for rent in the downtown area that accepted dogs as well as being child safe.

I wish them luck !  Moving with two dogs and a 15mo old was a delightful challenge.Tongue Tied

  • I lived in the Block apartments for a year. ?The location was absolutely fantastic (between the capitol building and monument circle, connected to Circle Center) and I know some residents had dogs (mind you this was back in 2005), but I don't know about kid friendly. ?It wasn't that it wasn't safe for a kid, just that people who rented there at the time tended not to have them. ?As a young female, I felt safe in the apartment complex. ?
  • I will forward these on to her, thanks to you all!!
