I'm hoping to make my first batch of non-canned beans this weekend as I'd love to make a chili with some of the wonderful grass fed beef I just got! Anyways, after I soak overnight...will I need to cook them before I make the chili? Or since the chili will cook pretty much all day will that work? I'm hoping the kidney bean bag has some answers for me too but any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks ladies!
Re: Another bean question
I don't cook them in advance if I will cook them in the crock pot all day.
If it is kidney beans though, I read an article about them having some toxin or something other beans don't and a crockpot does not get hot enough so they recommend putting them in boiling water for 10 min. and draining them. Then use them in the crockpot. I did this last week and it worked fine.
Ok thanks ladies!
Good to know about that toxin...I was thinking of making the chili on the stove versus the crock pot, but will probably still boil the beans just to be sure!
