1st year anniversary trip
Hey ladies, DH and I are having our 1st year anniversary the end of Sept and we'd like to go away for the weekend. We'd like to be able to drive there so about 3-4 hour radius. We went to Lake Geneva for our honeymoon so that's out. We thought about Galena, but he's not into antique and wine stuff. Any ideas?? TIA!

Sarah - what a very small world - I just happened upon the QC board when our anniversary board got moved, and here you are!

Could you do Chicago? That could be fun (although admittedly not very original).

KC - our board moved too!! We decided to abandon the knot and move on!!
Sarah - have you thought about St. Louis? It's about a 5-6 hour trip but I've done it easily in a day. It's a nice city with lots to do really! More than you would think! If you need suggestions for restaurants or activities, let me know! We have lots of friends down there and visited at least once a year growing up!
Chicago is also a fun option but again unoriginal but I act like a tourist some times when I go down, there's lovely things to do. Definitely take the architectural boat tour if its still running! You could also check out the HOB for events.
Have you thought abotu Omaha or Des Moines? Straight shot on I-80.
I still have my anniversary board from 2006 on The Knot
not much posting though.
What kind of stuff do you and Dh like to do? Maybe I can think of a few more options.

Lots of things coming to the Civic Center (concerts, comedians)... maybe you can look on ticketmaster to who is coming around the state(s) soon and that can be inspiration.
They moved them all over on Tuesday afternoon, they're still "there" if you have it bookmarked, but they moved all the links over to the nest. So if you go to the knot and click on your month, you'll be sent over here. They just decided to move a crapload of people over with no warning. It's interesting for sure!

Thanks everyone for ideas. We talked about it last night and I think we've made a decision. We are going to Starved Rock for the weekend to go hiking. I think it'll be neat because the trees should be turning around that time. Thanks again everyone!
