In response to your post about the name Avatar being stolen - it seems that the movie, The Village, has a strikingly similar storyline to a children's book called Running Out of Time by Haddix.  The children's book was written wayyyy before the movie was.  So just sayin - M. Night has stolen ideas before.......

I wasn't trying to say James Cameron stole M. Night's idea, just the name Avatar and as I already admitted I had no facts to back up that claim. I also get that Avatar is a commonly used term so it's not fair to say he "stole" the name...I was being a bitter cartoon dork. Thanks for the info on that children's book though, I definitely want to look into that because I thought The Village was pretty dang clever.

I thought that too about The Village until I was student teaching and the teacher was reading this book that sounded way too familiar!  I was like - hold the phone!!!

Yeah, I wonder if he ever gave the book any props. He obviously stole The Last Airbender from the Avatar cartoon, but at least he couldn't try and pass it off as his own idea because it's way too popular with the kiddos. I really wonder now if he gave that book any credit!
