Anyone ever have a dream about...

death? Morbid, I know, but I had a horrible dream a few weeks ago that I died, and I was fighting with everything I had to see DH one last time. It was very bizarre, but it scarred the sh!t out of me and I woke up sobbing hysterically. In the dream, I did get to see DH, and he was in the living room in front of the TV watching one of my favorite movies crying. The weird thing is he was facing the window, which at the time our living room wasn't set up that way, and the furniture was red (it is currently tan/beige/neutral). We are in the process of rearranging our living room and bought new living room furniture last night in red. When it gets here, if you sit on the love seat, you will be facing the window and the TV in the corner, like it was in the dream. At least in the dream I think we were in a house and we're still in our apartment.

Last night I was thinking about that show 'Flash Forward' (I think that's what it's called), b/c I hadn't seen it in a while and I was hoping it hadn't been cancelled b/c  wanted to see what happens. So last night I dreamt that we had the flash forward thing happen for real, and like a couple of the characters, mine didn't reveal anything so I woke up thinking about it and it disturbed me a bit.

Anyhoo, I don't have nightmares/night terrors that often, and it sounds crazy, but I'm a tad bit freaked out...silly I know. But I have had dreams (good ones anyway) that came true, and one of my biggest fears is that either me or DH will die at a young age. Any one else ever have these kinds of dreams? If so, what did you do to not get so freaked out about it?

Re: Anyone ever have a dream about...

  • I have had a couple of really vivid dreams where I thought I was dying too.  I think it was because I had just watched something on tv/in a movie that had implanted the thought in my dreams.  They were all super scary, and I woke up crying too.  Usually they involve me being in a car accident or running from danger.  I just figure we're bound to have these thoughts expressed in our dreams because death isn't something many people are comfortable talking about and our mind has to sort through the emotions somehow.
  • Flash Forward comes back in March!  I pph it.

And I've had on dreams about my own death, but lots about people close to me, especially my parents.  Its awful.

  • Hubby and I were just talking about this last night.  He has died a few times in his dreams and me, once (I fell to my death), in my hub's culture if you die in a dream it means you are going to have a long life so I see it as good luck!Big Smile

I like this belief!! I'm not quite sure how I died in my dream, I just remember I was in a car with DH's family, listening to his grandmother tell one of her stories about back in her day, and then I was running on the highway, and then it was like something pulling me back and I was moving my legs, but wasn't going anywhere, and I just knew. But I don't know what happened. Very weird.
