Vent: Our dog is reverting to puppyhood

He has been so weird since I got pregnant-I always thought it was a myth but apparently not.

He used to have severe separation anxiety-the kind where he would scream and throw himself against his crate when we left.

Well today I went to check the mail which means I have to walk about a block. I could hear him screaming bloody murder at the door halfway there. Sigh.

If you guys have big dogs with SA, you know what I'm referring to-it sounds like you're skinning them alive. I'm actually surprised the ASPCA hasn't investigated, lol.

I know how to treat these issues, I'm just pissed that they're back.

  • Poor guy!  Hopefully it goes away before the baby comes!

  • Oh that sucks!  SA is not something that I can deal with at this point in my life.  I don't know how anyone does it; it's so horrible.  I hope he starts getting over it soon!

Hahaha! We survived it once before, we'll just have to deal this time around too. Silly dogs...

  • Poor guy.  He probably senses change and thinks you're going to leave him and not come back.  Do you crate him?

  • We would never leave this silly dog-but I'm sure thats exactly what he's thinking. Yep, we do crate him.

My old boxer used to flip out when I left him.  The crate was the only thing that seemed to keep him sane.  It's heartbreaking to know that they are so worried about being left!  Hopefully it's just a phase and once he's adjusted to life with a baby he'll settle down.

I have heard of dogs becoming overly aggressive and protective with their owner while she's pregnant.  I always thought that was a myth!
