I'm a Clemson fan/alumni and was very saddened by the news. He was only 26th! How is an enlarged heart not discovered? Bucs thought he was doggin' it, and traded him to the Bears. Too too sad.
I know he had a kid while he was attending college, I hope Adams' girlfriend will be well enough off to take care of the kid.
My best memory of Gaines was in 2005 when I just finished taking my fundamentals of engineering exam to rush to a local bar to watch Clemson and Wake Forest. I was disappointed that I rushed the exam to watch Clemson play so poorly, but in the 4th quarter, No. 93 deflected a FG attempt and turned the game around for Clemson. He was a superstar, RIP Gaines.
Re: RIP, Gaines Adams
I am guessing it was a congenital problem. He probably never knew he had it.:(
