baking soda+vinegar for kitchen sink clog?

i used this with great success in the bathroom, but i'm wondering about the effects on the disposal in our kitchen.  anyone have any experience with this?  i'm in denial that we just need to replace the disposal, i'm trying to avoid that for as long as possible.  but i'm assuming things would be ok if i just plug up both sides of the sink, right?

I've done it successfully on the side of the sink without the disposal, but when I tried it with our (old) disposal it just cleaned the parts without affecting the actual problem. We ended up replacing our disposal.

I've tried baking soda and vinegar, and I think CLR power plumber works better.  It's maybe not quite as EF as baking soda and vinegar, but for tough clogs it's worth it.

IME, this works well for maintenance, but it doesn't do it for clogs. A snake is probably you're best eco-friendly bet, and then keep up on maintenance.
