So, I made it to Sweet this weekend...the cupcake place Stumpy has been whorin out for her friend...I gotta say that I wasn't that impressed.
I brought a dozen of them to a family dinner and we were able to try alot of the flavors. The concept was good but I found the cake to be quite dry. The frosting was a bit too sweet. I will stick to Publix in the future where I can get a half dozen cupcakes for the price of one Sweet cupcake!
Re: Here is a post for ya!!!
That stinks!
Sweet is a little out of my way, but I would still like to try them. Just to say I did, you know.
Anyone know of any other cupcake places?
"So, I made it to Sweet this weekend...the cupcake place Stumpy has been whorin out for her friend"
Excuse me??? First off, she is not really my friend . . . I just happen to teach her children. (I don't "hang out" with her socially) I certainly wasn't "whorin" . . . I was just giving nesties a rec for a place they might like to try. (It certainly has been done here before) I haven't seen her or spoken to the owner -- so I don't know what your deal is??
I am sorry you didn't care for the cupcakes . . . but there is no reason to be rude.
Whoa...relax Stump!
"Whorin" is a term used here! Haven't you seen AW or PW floatin around??? When you mentioned the place you indicated you know the owner and than continued to start more than one post about Sweet. kinda made it sound like ya'll were buds!
I would still go try a Sweet cupcake. Just cause 1 person didnt care for it doesnt mean its bad. I personally cannot stand Publix cupcakes, but I would never tell someone not to go try them. Everyone is different. If you do try one, let us know how they are. Over here in Lake Mary I dont get to the chance to go to Sweet.
My husband does always make the drive to Charlies Bakery in Orlando for my birthday cake though Mmmm worth every bite
Maybe I'm reading too much into this, especially based on Stumpy's response, but I didn't think that DMC was implying that no one should try it. Just that she did and wasn't as impressed.
Thanks Kay....Seems like everyone gets in defense mode around here the second someone mentions a second opinion on something.
Whateley....I love some Charleys Bakery, They have the best rolls. My mom makes the trip there for holiday meals and they are sooo worth it.
Thanks Kay....Seems like everyone gets in defense mode around here the second someone mentions a second opinion on something.
I think people get defense when the second opinion comes off more as a personal attack!
I think you hit the nail right on the head there Ebi!
Ok, so I might be a little slow tonight (has nothing to do with the bottle of wine I just finished)....but are you saying that MrsDMC was "personally attacking" someone?
Yeah....how the feck was that a personal attack on anyone? Gah, why is everyone so sensative around this joint.
I am not uber sensitive and don't get "defensive" often . . . but they way the poster mentioned me, the fact that I was "whorin" -- just was uncalled for. I think most people with tact just don't write things the way the riginal poster did.
Everyobody has a right to their own opinions -- no probelm there. I just think we can be a little bit kinder and more polite. (especially after all the troll business we have had)
I never wrote about Sweet to cause a controversy . . . and I wasn't the only one who wrote in about it. Yes, I followed up b/c I wanted to see if people actually went and liked it . . . is that so wrong? It's not like I was posting every two seconds about the place. I was just curious if other people liked it as much as I did. (What can I say? I just happen to be taking a medicine for my brain tumor that makes my want sweets all the time. Obviously I can't have cupcakes or sweets all the time . . . so I guess I just wanted to talk about cucakes rather than eating them!)
No harm, no foul . . . but I just think we can be a little nicer when we refer to someone else.
I hope y'all enjoy your cupcakes . . . from Sweet, Publix, Charlies, Ballard Bakery or wherever! Can't we just get along? Life is just too short to talk down to each other or purposefully cause controversy just because.
Totally different subject: if you haven't seen Wall-e yet, go see it! (Talk amongst yourselves . . . discuss!!!)
Ok, I know this is a dead subject but I have to say something. ?This is the BIGGEST problem this board has. ?No one can take anything that isn't puppies and rainbows. ?When the original poster posted, I completely got what she was saying as a joke. ?You did not and that makes me sad. ?It was not meant to be offensive, she was just making a post.
This is what I am saying....if anyone comes on this board and posts anything controversial no one can handle it. ?It seems like this board has come down to polls and what's for dinner. ?While you girls like that, you MUST be adult and take this public message board as just that. ?You WILL NOT always like what people say, so you must either learn to ignore it or grow up and take it with a grain of salt. ?This post was not meant as an insult but was turned into one. ?
Come on people, we won't always agree so deal with it and move on. ?God, I hate to see what happens when you girls get your wish and a moderator comes to "babysit" this board.
Sorry, I just can't take what's going on anymore.?
I think she's saying that it came off sounding like a personal attack, whether it was meant to or not. And yeah, it sounded that way to me as well. How a post is worded makes a big difference in how it comes off.
I've known stumpy for five years and she's never struck me as the defensive type.
Thanks SunMoon&Stars!
Yep, it just sounded odd to me . . . that is why I wrote.
I agree that sometimes the way things are worded can cause "conflict" or "trouble". Even with smilies it is difficult to know the tone in a post. (I mean, some of us know each other, but some of us dodn't . . . so what me a joke to one person can come off as something else if you don't know the person)
Everything doesn't have to be flowers and rainbows . . . I just like respect -- that's all.
