How to get from Northbrook to Downtown?

Hello, I will be in Northbrook this weekend without a car.  Can anyone tell me how to get from Northbrook to Downtown using the EL or other means.  I've tried using the CTA trip planner but haven't had much luck.  TIA!

Re: How to get from Northbrook to Downtown?

  • You will most likely want to take Metra which is the commuter train system.  There is a stop in Northbrook and one in Deerfield (Lake Cook Road) that are probably close to wherever you are leaving from.  The trains go into Union Station downtown and from there you can use CTA's trip planner to get to your final destination.  The metra website is www.metrarail.com.  Just make sure you have cash with you for your tickets and that you buy them at the ticket window (if the station has one).  Otherwise, they tack on an extra $2 if you buy them on the train.
