Horrible thing happened to a coworker last week

on Friday we found out that a new born son of a faculty member here died of what appears to be SIDS.  he was at daycare at the time.

he was only about 4 or 5 months old.  

from what i've heard, the police were called and when they got on the scene, the in home day care provider was no where to be found, but her grown sons were there.  and the house reeked of pot.

it's just so tragic.  

i don't even know what i would do with myself if that happened to me.  i don't know this woman well, but from the limited interactions i've had with her, she's a very nice person.  any vibes would be appreciated.

I literally cannot imagine how heartbroken I would feel.  And angry!  The actual provider should have been there.  Maybe it wouldn't have made a difference, but maybe she would have noticed that something was wrong in time to save him.  There's no way to know, but the very thought would drive me insane wondering.
