has anyone been to House of Brides?

i am in my brother's wedding in June, and his fiance gave the bridesmaids a dress to go off of...has to be that color and material (it's from the Dessy collection).  i was looking online and it looks like House of Brides has a few different options.  has anyone been there before though? do they actually have a lot of different things to try on? and also, what about sizes? do they have various sizes to try, or is it mostly just like the wedding dresses where they have 1 size? i'm a curvier girl, and would really like to be able to actually see what i'm going to look like in these dresses!!!

Ive heard the HOB ladies are snotty to customers. I went to the one in Orland Park and didnt like the service so I left. Maybe you could have better luck...

I've been to two of their locations and had horrific service both times.  I've had several friends who have had their orders completely messed up and they never rectified the situation.

Awful. Awful. Awful.  We went there to try on dresses for my BMs. Service was non-existent.  They also only had one small dress in each style to try on, so we had to guess that the dress would look good.  Luckily it all worked out when we ordered the dresses online through netbride.

Wow, glad to know I'm not the only one who had horrible service there. I had an appointment to shop for wedding dresses there, but left after a few minutes because the sales person was so dismissive and unhelpful.

One of my friends ordered her wedding dress in June and it was supposed to be in in 4-6 months. When she called a week ago, they told her it would be another 4 months! She said they were unapologetic and not very helpful. She is wondering whether they even put in her order the first time, and is so worried about leaving it in their hands again that she is strongly considering shopping for a new dress elsewhere.

I tried to make an appointment at the one in Schaumburg, but couldn't get in. I went to the one in Lombard and checked in for my appointment, but was never helped. My mom and I found dresses by ourselves and found an open dressing room. I was only looking for bridesmaid dresses, so it was not a problem to try them on without help.  However, after seeing the lack of service I would have never ordered a dress from there.

They do have horrible service, but I have been there as a bridesmaid for 6 different weddings in the last few years and the last few times I basically knew which bridesmaid dresses to look at, I went and found them on the rack myself at HOB, tried them on and was done.  So, I would say their selection in store is decent (I've been to Schaumburg and the Downtown location)....most of the dresses are not in great condition, but I would say, go there to try them on to see what they look like, tell them you need time to think, then once you decide on the designer and style, order your actual dress from somewhere like Netbride.com or Lee Phillips Bridal online.  Both are reputable online companies which I've ordered from, the dresses were great condition, much cheaper and I didn't have to give HOB and their crappy service my business.

When shopping for my wedding dress, I went to one out in the burbs and got TERRIBLE (as in no service). 

For BM dress, I went to the one downtown and the lady I got was really nice/helpful.  She told me she was supposed to tell me to order the dress a in one size but said to order a size smaller b/c she knew the other wouldn't fit.
