Visiting San Diego!

Hello San Diego!

My fiance and I are visiting your city next Thursday through Sunday!!  This will be my first time to SD and we are spending our first day/night in Coronado.  I was wondering if you could recommend a great restaurant, particularly on the water?

We are staying at the Westin in the Gaslamp District and are going to the Phillies vs. Padres game while we are there.  Any great bars/pubs to do dinner before the game?

Also, any suggestions for what to wear at night?  Does it get pretty chilly in the evenings?

I'm sure you get these questions all the time, so thank you in advance for taking the time to reply! :)

Re: Visiting San Diego!

  • Welcome to San Diego (when you get here)!

IL FORNAIO is an Italian resturant in Coronado right by the water. Your view is the SD skyline!

There are tons of pubs, bar & grills in downtown, you just have to walk around and explore, and that's fun in itself! If you guys like sarcastic, rude humor, there is a ***'s Last Resort (resturant, well I guess not a resturant, but a place to get food and drinks) by the stadium (we love that stuff).

It's been warm during the days and nice at night (a little chilly for me, I'd take a sweater, but I am always cold). I guess it depends where you are going, but casual usually goes over well. HTH!

    Cheers Drinks

  • For bars in the Gaslamp District, like pp said there are a ton!  I would just walk up 5th ave. on your way to the stadium and you can stop where ever you see that fits what you guys like.  Bars that I like to go to are Nicky Rotten's, The Field, The Blarney Stone, Freds Mexican Cafe, just to name a few.  If you are looking for a more upscale experience i would go to J Bar on top of Hotel Solimar or Altitude on top of the Marriott.  (Both are located right next to the ball park.)  There is also a good pizza place/bar right next to the park called "Basic" that has a great atmosphere and really good pizza.

    Have fun!

  • Oooh,  I almost forgot to put a plug out there for The Double Deuce.  It is a new Country Slash Rock and Roll bar in the Gaslamp that DH's best friend just opened on 6th and F.  It has a fun bar to stop and get a drink in.  They don't have food but definitely stop and get a drink!
