do you get into vday?

we really don't.  we may exchange cards and go out to dinner or cook a romantic dinner at home, but we don't go all out.  sometimes dh brings me a stuffed animal.

what do you typically do?

Re: do you get into vday?

  • Usually we buy eachother a small gift (like a DVD) and he typically brings me flowers.
  • Not really.  We have never celebrated vday though.  Normally its just a regular work day and we work that day.

  • Not at all. I think it's a commerical holiday. I'd much rather have my husband buy me flowers or us go to dinner some other point in the year than on a day that was dedicated to love by someone. Not my idea of romance...
  • We do...but mainly because it is my birthday.  I have always kinda gotten into Valentine's day, though.  I know how cliche it is but I do enjoy the holiday and sending valentine's and all that goes with it.  Yeah...I know I sound lame...but I can admit it with dignity!  ;)

I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing. Kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day AND I believe in miracles. -Audrey Hepburn
  • We do less as the years go by.  We will probably just go out to dinner, if that.  I do enjoy Valentine's day though, even though we try to not spend a lot of money.
  • For us, Valentine's Day isn't just about us.  Usually we send out cards to our friends and family.  We exchange small gifts with my family and with each other, and we usually have a dinner together that's not in front of the tv.  Usually we go out just because I cook almost every day of the year so going out is a special treat.

This year we're going to Palm Springs for the weekend with my mom.

  • I do. I absolutely love it.

I love to give out the little Valentine cards (like old school 4th grade kind) to all of my co workers along with a sucker. Or maybe I just like to give people things? lol.

  • I love Valentines day.  We have a candle lit breakfast and give the kids Valentine socks and little cards.  I usually leave some cookies or a little note in DH's car for him to find on his way to work.  He usually brings me flowers.  And we have a heart shaped pizza for dinner (a tradition we started in college).
    .
  • When we were dating we would go out to dinner, and I would get flowers, card, a stuffed animal. Now we do dinner wherever, home, out, doesn't matter, and I usually get flowers and a card. I get him a card. We haven't ever made a big deal of it before.

  • I never have. This is my first year single since I am going through a divorce. Two of my girlfriends have husbands out of town that weekend so I think we are all going out to dinner.
  • We don't do anything for v-day or sweetest day... just another day.  :)
  • I love valentines day. DH will be going BACK to Dubai by then so I will spend it with a very handsome and loving man while he's away...........my son caleb..lol. he likes getting the candy although he doesn't want his friends to know..sssshhhhhh Our secret.

  • I love Valentine's Day! It's one of my top 3 favorite holidays. Instead of viewing it as a commercial holiday, view it as a day that you get to show the love of your life how much you love them! I love an excuse to buy my DH a romantic card and enjoy a dinner for two on town.
  • we celebrate valentines day! for the last few years we've given pretty nice gifts. the first few years together wasn't a big deal but since we've been home owners, things have changed. we exchange gifts... usually a few days in advance because we are so excited for what we've bought and we go to dinner. we dont do anything huge but it's the one time of the year that we buy eachother the ONE thing we know we want

  • DH and I don't do anything for Vday or sweetest day --usually just stay home and watch a movie--regular stuff.  This year I may be hanging out with the girls since 1/2 are single and bummed out--to us its not a big deal at all.  We don't need a certian day to show how much we love each other with gifts/material things...we love each other everyday of the year and that is enough for us.
  • We don't.  We use it as an excuse to cook a nicer dinner at home (maybe something with seafood or steak) and maybe watch a movie together.  We get each other a card, but the rule is that is has to be funny and/or naughty :)  He usually gets me Valentine M&Ms and I get him cinnamon hearts.

  • we exchange cards.

We DO NOT go out to dinner. That is one of the WORST nights to go out.Places are crowded which usually makes service  less than stellar.

  • We don't get too into it, but we do celebrate. Normally, we go out to a nice dinner and a movie and exchange gifts.

This year we have a free stay at a hotel, so we are getting a hotel and going into the city to spend the day together.

  • Well one year I watched the olympics...

I don't really celebrate V-day for a couple different reasons.
    1) My birthday is shortly after V-day and I'd rather get flowers for my birthday than for V-day.
    2) I am of the opinion that it's a surperflus holiday. I feel that if you love, respect, and appreciate someone (as you should your spouse or any other family member) you should let them know every day instead of reserving everything for one day a year. I don't celebrate Dad's or Mom's day either for that reason. (With the exception of the fact I'll call my mom on mom's day as she has a tendancy to complain that we don't love her if she doesn't recieve at least the obligatory phone call. I don't even know when it is until our pastor says or does something refering to the day.)

Before I get repremended, no I'm not a mother -yet- and yes I realize that mothers work very hard. I'm not against showing my mother appreciation for the 25 years she's put up with me and my 9 siblings and all our crap. But if and when my hubby and I have kids, I'm not going to require them to do anything on Mother's day for me.
