Hi there,
I'm Sarah. I think I've posted on this board a couple of times in the past. I'm a recent transplant from Eastern WA to the area, and I'll be moving from Vancouver to Hillsboro in the coming weeks. Just wanted to say hello and kind of introduce myself to this board, as I'm hoping to be more frequent on it. (I spend lots of time over on the Seattle boards...)
At any rate, I noticed from a post on the OR bump that a lot of the ladies live in Hillsboro/Forest Grove. I look forward to getting to know you ladies on this end better and hopefully make some new friends. (Haha. I'm a little bit lame.)
Does anyone have any recs for anything around Hillsboro? Haven't spent a whole lot of time out there yet. DH will be home in February and can't wait to check things out.
TIA ladies!

Re: New to this board.
Hi! Welcome to the board! We are very friendly. This board is very slow, so please start posting!!
There are a lot of Bumpies in Hillsboro, but not a lot of Nesties (that I know of at least). My absolute FAVORITE restaurant is Juan Colorado's, it's on TV Highway, pretty close to downtown Hillsboro. Yumm. Let me know if you are looking for specific recs!
So happy that your DH is coming home, how exciting!! Question...is your ticker ok by OPSEC standards?
Hi Sarah, welcome to the oregon board. I'm out in Forest Grove and am on both the Nest and the Bump since I have a 2 year old and am due in April. A few rec's. For a higher end health club, check out Hawthorne Farm Athletic Club, its just off of Cornell near Costco. As for food, the indian restaurant in Orenco Station has a great buffet lunch. And the Hawaiian restaurant off of TV Hwy near downtown Hillsboro is pretty decent. As for Mexican restaurants there are a ton from chain to truly authentic. Some are a bit dirty and extremely lacking in ambiance but don't discount them, they generally have some of the best food!
Hi! You were kind of non-specific about recs for Hillsboro, so I'll tell you what I love. : )
My favorite grocery store is New Seasons. It's sort of a combo of Whole Foods meets your regular grocery store, but with lots of wonderful local stuff. You can get local made fresh pasta, local ice cream and other fabulous things. There's also a Whole Foods nearby that's got a cheese selection that is pretty awesome (not my old WFM awesome, but close).
I love the Hillsboro Main Branch library. It's off of Brookwood Parkway. Incidentally, my favorite roads to drive in the area (especially when the weather is fantastic or fall colors are out) are Brookwood and Evergreen. Skyline Blvd is also awesome to drive, but it's slower. I like zipping along at 45 with the top down, and there aren't many pretty places you can zip along, IMO.
The Orenco Station Grill has awesome nachoes. The rest of their food is OK. The Indian place in Orenco Station is also pretty good. Our favorite Thai place is called Siam. McMenamins has several brewpubs, once of which is right off of 26 - The Cornelius Pass Roadhouse. Their beers are all great, but the Ruby is my favorite (raspberry), and their food is always good. We've never had anything bad there. Our favorite nicer place to eat out is Hall Street Grill in Beaverton.
Speaking of Orenco Station, if you have pets Nature's Pet is an awesome store.
I can't think of anything else, and I need to get back to evil OChem. But let us know when you're here and come to one of our GTGs! We'd love to have you!
I look forward to joining in on some gtgs. Thanks ladies!
Welcome to the board!
I live near Tanasbourne, so not too far from Hillsboro.
Some of my fav places are Orence Station - they have a great farmer's market in the summer and a New Seasons. There's a Whole Foods right across from Streets of Tanasbourne shopping center. There's a Rose's Deli in there that is yummy and a Portland icon.
Happy Panda on 185th and Walker is good Chinese food and the deliver!! Over on my side is the best Mexican ever! (DH is a HUGE Mexican food lover and critic and it's his fav) It's Si Senor, and I think they have a couple locations but we've only eaten at the one by our house.
And of course, if you like to craft we have a JoAnn Superstore near Orence Station and Craft Warehouse in Aloha on 185th and Walker.
Hope that helps!! And welcome to the area.
I think I know exactly where you're moving if it's right by the middle school! I would strongly recommend you check out Nonna Emilia's. It's off of 170th and TV Highway and has super yummy Italian food with ridiculously large portion sizes. Also on TV Highway is Reo's Ribs -- I've heard that it's run by Snoop Dogg's uncle. It's hard to miss the plumes of smoke from the smoker out front as you drive by.
A newer place that's really close to you is Gogo Burger (it used to be a Mongolian grill and just recently changed to be a burger joint). It's on 205th & Baseline.
Whoever suggested Happy Panda is right -- they deliver (and should deliver to your new place) and they have online ordering which phone-a-phobic people like me love!
On a non-food related tip, I suggest you check out Noble Woods Park. It's a nice park with walking trails really close to you. http://www.ci.hillsboro.or.us/parksrec/parksfacilities/noblewoodspark.aspx

Yes it is Snoop's Uncle. But they are closing down and moving!!!! To the NE 23rd area, I believe. I don't know when, but it was on the news the other night. We used to eat there alot.
