Best veggies, etc. for containers?
Dh and I just bought a load of containers off CL last night (11-12" and 2-18" all for $10!) We're getting ready to get our patio garden together for this year's gardening season and need some help with knowing what works best in 12" and 18" containers...I'd love some help! We started gardening last year, but we had a yard (and did a few tomatoes and herbs in containers which we will do again).
Thanks ladies!

Re: Best veggies, etc. for containers?
If you'r going to do veggies, like bell peppers in containers, I'd reccomend using a dwarf size so that they're not top heavy. I did patio tomatoes last year in containers, and they came out wonderfully!
How did you find those? I've been stalking Craigslist for like 3 weeks!
I currently have this book at home from the library: The Bountiful Container by McGee & Stuckey. It gives specific varieties of veggies that you can plant well in containers. Heck, it even tells you how to plant them. A tomato in the back, so and so surrounding it, and something else between. It's really cool. Otherwise, I've had good luck just googling container gardening and picking out the bits of info I've found there. If you send me an e-mail I can send you my word document of the things I've decided on doing.

I have no idea...DH randomly looked at the farm equipment section last night and we went to SE to pick them up! (he was originally looking for beer homebrewing equipment) SCORE!
I'll have to check out that book, and I'd love to see what info you have so far! I'm excited we're able to garden in an area that isn't 100 degrees July -September and that actually received rain!

Tell your DH he's awesome! : ) I wish I could get Jeff onboard with gardening. YGM, too!
