new Bills coach...maybe

Several sources have confirmed that Chan Gailey has been hired as the Buffalo Bills' new head coach.

The former Dallas Cowboys head coach reportedly will be named at a 2 p.m. press conference..

Re: new Bills coach...maybe

  • DH's comment, "that sounds about right, a second rate coach for a second rate team".  He's a Bills fan, btw.
  • I was hoping they would hire someone who was under the age of oh, say like 55. Sounds like Bill Cowher would've brought him to b-lo as O-Coord if Bill had been hired, so I think that helped Chan get the job.

Word on the street is that no one good wanted the job.

Yep - I read that in the Buffalo News. I wonder what the reasoning was. In all honestly, we actually have a really good group of players. The problem this year was a) we couldn't finish games and b) almost the entire team was on IR. Once Jackson replaced Lynch, things went much better. Could it be that there is an unknown as to what will happen once Ralph passes? Or is it because they are the Bills and no one cares? I highly doubt it's the weather ;)

I really wonder if they even offered the job to Fewell. On paper, Chan actually has done fairly well with teams (minus the big games) - it will be interesting to see if he tries to re-sign Owens again. I'm also interested to see if he makes himself O-coord or gives that job to someone else.

  • Katie_F - you will love this. A comment from the b-lo news article:

Chuck Schumer will be weighing in on this news, as soon as he can figure out a way to get some credit for this.

  • I saw this on Twitter today:

"Good news, Bills fans...http://www.firechangailey.com is for sale. It worked at Georgia Tech. Better snatch it up now, you're gonna need it."

    Hehe.

DH is convinced it is because Ralph is a tightwad and no one wants to deal with him.  The Buffalo News said something along the lines of, "The team went to Ruth's Chris for a filet.  They ordered the filet but were told their credit was no good.  They tried to order a ribeye, but again their credit was declined.  They settled for a grilled cheese sandwich".
