Hi everyone, just another tourist here. I'm heading to orlando the end of Feb. and I'm looking to take my parents out to dinner to a nice restaurant to thank them for all the help with our wedding (which is wayyyy overdue.) And I'm looking for a nice restaurant. Not like a chain or Downtown DIsney/Citywalk (as much as I love those places). So if anyone could reccomend a nice place, I would much appreciate it.
I also have driven through Celebrations before, I'm sure there's some nice ones in there if anyone knows of any. Thanks!!
Re: Dinner spots
How much do you want to spend? That will help out a lot. The term "nice restaurant" is a very big open ended statement. (sorry!) How far are you willing to travel?
One of my favorites is Seasons 52, but it is a chain. (Although there aren't many of them . . . and you can easily drop a whole lot of money or be psedu frugal if you have to be)
Orlando is the king of chains -- but Restaurant Row (Sandlake) has a ton of nice places and a lot of them are ones that you won't find everywhere.
Orlando definitely has a ton of chain restaurants...What area of town will you be in? That will also help narrow things down. There are a ton of local spots in the downtown area, as well as the Winter Park area.
Norman's at the Ritz Carlton on John Young is supposed to be one of the best restaurants in town. Coq au Vin is a fabulous French restaurant. Don't dismiss Disney - their resorts have some amazing restaurants as well - California Grill at the Contemporary, Yachtsman's Steakhouse at the Yacht Club, Jiko at the Animal Kingdom Lodge...
I agree with Kokomama... Disney has some great restaraunts on property the one's that she mentioned are some of my favorites and also Todd English' Blue Zoo and Cat Cora just opened up a new restaraunt at the Boardwalk called kouzzina. I also LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the flying fish at Disney's Boardwalk so worth the money!!!
Where ever your planning to go make resiverations. Almost every restaurant in Orlando takes reservations and places fill up fast!
I too love Season's... it's a restaurant owned by Darden who owns Olive Garden and Red Lobster... but you would never know it going into the place. If you don't have any Capital Grille's by you and you want a nice steak dinner you could go there... although it;'s a chain... we dropped $200 there one night for 2 people! The food is amazing!
Gargi's Lakeside in college park is locally owned and delish... not too pricey but great food. Winter Park has a lot of great restaurants on Park Ave; Luma on Park, Park Plaza Gardens, 310 Park South, and a fabulous wine bar if everyone likes to drink wine. It's called the Wine Room and you fill up a card that you can use at each wine machine to fill up your glass and try all sorts of different wines.... if everyone likes wine's I highly suggest something like that.... instead of just 1 really nice dinner!
I guess it all depends on how much you really want to spend and if you want to drive a far distance or stay near the Disney area....
