going away, need to leave DH with food, any ideas? :)
I am going to Florida to welcome my nephew into the world and am leaving DH. DH has decided he's throwing a golf day/man night in my absence. I'd like to leave him some food all prepared that he can just pop in the oven/crockpot for his party. Any suggestions?
I am thinking of preparing wings in the crockpot, so all he has to do is turn it on before he goes to golf, but don't have a recipe - anyone have one?
Other ideas are most welcome...keep in mind, he is not a cooker!
TIA!
Cori

Macaroni and cheese? You can put it all together and leave it in the fridge so all he has to do is heat it. That's not too difficult.
Boboli pizzas. Buy the crusts, sauce, cheese and pepperoni. They are easy to throw together.
Or you could make chili and leave him with cheese and tostitos.
For the chicken wings, I buy the wingettes (the little ones like what you get when you order wings at a resturant.) Then I throw them in Sesame Teriyaki marinade, which I think Ken's makes. Cook them in the oven at 375 for about 45 minutes or so. They could also cook in the crockpot easily.Just dump them in with the marinade. My whole family loves them.
Great ideas! thank you...
He did survive for 27 years without me and I go away a lot, so I know he'll be fine. I'm more worried about all the other boys that will be here hungry after golf on Saturday!
Thank you - more ideas are most welcome!
LOL - You are WAY nicer to your husband than I would be! He would so be on his own especially considering that I know that I'd additionally be cleaning up after how many days worth of messiness when I got home!!
No kids for him to feed hopefully, right?
There will be 25 guys here (no kids....thank god!) and he has no idea what he's getting into. And to be honest, I don't want them to drink too much on an empty stomach!
Seriously, I am NOT looking forward to the afterparty mess. But he knows if I come home and it's a stye, I will be pissed [especially since my mother is coming to FL with me and staying here the night we get back before she goes home to the Cape, and she cannot be subjected to the mess - hope he realizes that! mental note to remind him...thanks].
I know they will be fine, he has takeout on speed-dial, just want to be 'a good wife'
You are a good wife!
You can do a baked ziti. He'd just have to pop it in the oven. That would absorb alcohol nicely:) I'd also have plenty of water, and munchies like chips and tortilla chips.
Oh another easy, man friendly food: Make a layer dip: one layer of cream cheese, a layer of refriend beans, a layer of salsa and a layer of shredded cheese, microwave until hot and gooey and serve with tostitos.
I would do the same thing for my DH. He is just clueless when it comes to cooking. He WOULD clean up the mess though, so I am lucky!
Kielbasa in sweet chili sauce... great in the crockpot.
slice the kielbasa (2 lbs worth) and brown it in a skillet. Then it just needs to get dumped into the crockpot w/ 32 oz. of grape jelly and three jars of (i use heinz but a generic, if available, is fine) chili sauce. Super easy. Just put it on low and the jelly and sauce will melt in nicely.
