Baby Shower

Hello All -

My sister and I are holding a baby shower for our other sister and I was wondering if you had any fun games. It's a family affair, so boys will be there and kids of all different ages. The boys are refering to this party as a pre-birthday party. Smile

We played the clothspin and can't say the BABY word at the last family pre-birthday party (LOL). Any other ideas out there?

TIA!

Re: Baby Shower

  • Are the boys going to be participating in these games as well?

I just helped a friend with a big family co-ed baby shower this weekend.  We set up a few raffles, not games that everyone could participate in.

    - weight, height, date predictions for the baby's due date (no prize awareded, but fun to see everyone's guesses)

    - raffle for everyone who brought a pack of diapers to the shower (this was specified on the shower invite)

    - raffle for advice cards filled out for the mom and dad-to-be

    - raffle with thank you card envelopes filled out by guests

    HTH!

  • My family did a guess what type of baby food each jar is at my shower.  They removed the labels off some basic ones and passed them around.  The kids even liked trying to guess.

Gift bingo always go over wells at my family events too.  It keeps people more interested in the gift opening.  Again, something kids could play if the moms help them fill in the bingo card to begin with.

At my shower, they had adult prizes and kid prizes.  Most of the kids prizes were Mason jars filled with some sort of candy.

  • I like the baby food jar idea! Cute!

At a shower I was at recently, they gave everyone a large piece of string and told everyone to cut the string to the size that they felt would fit around the mommy-to-be's tummy... it was so cute to see how tiny (or how HUGE) some of the kids guessed!!!

  • This isn't a game, really, but you could always have the kids decorate onesies or have everyone bring a baby picture of themselves and have them guess who's who with a small prize for the winner.
  •  Mama's Belly

This was a hit at my sil's party.

Using yarn, string ribbon or whatever works.

Have guests guess how big her belly is using the string..

have mama show off her belly while ppl are cutting their string.

Winner (closest to the size) won a gift certificate

  • Great Ideas everyone!! I think some of these will really work.  :)

  • This one is a little gross but the guys might get a kick out of it.  They took baby diapers (new of course), smashed different candy bars in them then passed them around and people had to figure out what type of candy it is.

My aunt did this for my wedding shower but I am sure it would work for a baby shower ... they bought a scrapbook and scrapbooking supplies.  Everyone at the shower chose a theme out of a hat and prepared the pages for me (without the pics).  You could have "BIRTH-day," "rolling over," "first tooth," "first haircut," etc.  Then get the stickers, stencils, markers, etc. each person picks a theme and decorates a page, then you put them all together in the book.

  • Okay, I recently saw this on "The Girls Next Door" (I know, I know, but bear with me!):

A Baby Olympics obstacle course where all the guests are put into teams and take a "baby" (doll) and have to complete certain things in the obstacle course (like get through a course of baby toys on the floor), then the next person on the team has to change the diaper, then the next person on the team has to put the baby's outfit on, then the next has to strap it into a carseat, etc.  The team that finishes all of the these things first is the winner.  It looked soooo fun!

Of course, there's always the game where you put mushed up and melted candy and candy bars in several different diapers and you have to guess which candy is in each one (but it looks like poo, of course, so the kids would probably enjoy this!).

As the party goes on, you can do the game where if you cross your legs or arms, you have to wear a baby diaper pin or clothespin; then at the end whoever has the most is the loser and has to eat the candy "poo" out of one of the diapers.

Oh gosh, there's so many fun ones!  I hope that helps!
