Lasik Surgery ??

Have any of you ladies or has anyone in your family had experience with Lasik Surgery? Do you recommend it? Did you use a doctor in Baton Rouge? If so, who did you use? Would you recommend them? Who would you not recommend?

Thanks for your input!

Re: Lasik Surgery ??

  • I actually went to my eye doctor this past thursday and I'm planning to get lasik done before the end of february. My regular eye doctor is Dr. Jason Allemond in Zachary, he is in with Baron Williamson. They used to be apart of Williamson Eye Associates but they had a major fallout a few years ago, and he and Dr. Williamson opened up their own practice. He is recommending Dr. Hebert for my lasik surgery.

On who I would not recommend, I had to go see Dr Charles Williamson one time when I had a corneal ulcer and my dr was out of town, and let me just say that man was a total a$$ to me and i would not go back to him. I know they perform lasik as well but I was literally shocked by how rude he was when I went to see him and that was enough for me not to want to get lasik done by them.

  • My ex had it done at the williamson eye center and he loved it. I don't know what doctor specifically did it, but he was nice. Well he was arrogant, but got the job done and we were out of there in 20 minutes.

  • i saw dr. fay woo - can't remember her practice's name, but it's in the tower at OLOL.  she is expensive, but worth it.  i think i paid $1700/eye back in 2004, but my sight was so bad she couldn't use the newer technology on me - i would not have corrected as well.

she had me wait an extra two weeks for surgery, because i had been in contacts so long and my corneas were misshapen.  it usually corrects itself after about 2 weeks of being contacts-free, but she didn't want to risk anything.

she is meticulous, takes her time, and includes all follow-up for a year.

  • I had lasik in April of 2008 and it was a good experience for me.  I actually work for Dr. C Williamson so he did my sx.  He really isn't stuck up or mean, he is just not a man of too many words and he is also a pretty big guy so sometimes I find that people think he is not approachable or mean.  Working for him I know that he is a very caring person, but I'm not here to butter everyone up.  Just saying he did a great job and it took about 2 min per eye and then next day I worked an 8 hour day (drove myself to work and all).  Most places offer a free consult if you want to make sure you are interested before you jump into it.
  • thanks for all the input! I appreciate it!
  • Dh and I both used the tower at the lake. Mine was back in 2001 and his was in 2008. I can't remember our doctors, but we both had great experiences. They want you out of contacts for two weeks, then no makeup for a few days after. Otherwise it's very easy with awesome results!
