Please help!

Does anyone know of any other place I should list my apartment besides Craigslist? DH's company will not help us with the move, as it was optional but this is something we both really want and we already told them we would take it. I am just not having any luck so far and am worried we won't be able to afford to break this lease, as that would be an extra almost $4,000 for us... I was just wondering if there was another place to list it that maybe gets more views or something. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Re: Please help!

  • I don't know much about it, but I've heard stuff about a site called freecycle.com. Its to get rid of stuff (perhaps for free??) but it might also have an option for you.

Also, in general maybe you could google other sites/forums/online communities that are based in your area.

Other than that, there's always paying for an ad in the paper.

  • I just put an ad in the Orlando Sentinel.  Its always worked the best for me as I've had to find tenants for my condo.  I tried rentals.com but barely got any activity from it and wasted my money.  Orlando Sentinel usually works for me.  I'm also posting flyers in my Condo Community Center and other places.  HTH
  • MrsK-  I don't know about your apartment, but most apartents will allow you to "Break" your lease for job relocations.  Call the office and talk to the Head Manager.  If they can find someone to put into your apartment usually they will allow you to break the lease.

  • MegaP is right. I actually think there is a law or part of a contract that says they must break the lease and give your deposits back.

I know you move is optional but my your DH's employer will write a letter saying it is mandatory.....or maybe you could just write one yourself...wink wink!!!

  • I thought that too.... but apparently the only people protected under that are military. We talked to the manager on Saturday and told her we HAVE to move as this is mandatory for him to keep his job. She said the only two options we have are to find someone to sublease or break the lease and pay two month's rent (but the lease can't even be broken until October because we have to give 60 days notice that we are breaking the lease)....i might try the sentinel. it is just discouraging how few responses i have had.
