worst cooks in america

i was super, super mad when beau and anne erased the recipe.  that's not fair -- most people will cook from a recipe, and they should be allowed to have it in front of them.

cooking on a teppanyaki is also not fair.  it's like cooking on a french range -- if you're not familiar with how it works, you're going to burn stuff.  it's bad enough that they saddle them with electric ranges in the actual kitchen.  i laughed long and hard when susie started a fire.

Re: worst cooks in america

  • I forgot this show was coming on so I thought this was going to be an EmilyKate post.
  • I wasn't bothered by the fact that the recipes were erased. I was more bothered by the fact that it looked like some people hadn't even bothered to read them. I'm a pretty bad cook, and I know one of my biggest problems is spending too much time looking back at the recipe. Now I always have a point to have it basically memorized before I start.

The knife skills lesson worried me. I was sure someone was going to cut off a finger.

  • you have to keep practicing.  yes, you will cut yourself, but keep going.  it's really fear that's holding these people back, not lack of skill.

i do think the show is shortchanging these people -- they're learning to cook in a restaurant way, not for the home.  some of the lessons will carry over, but some are a total waste.

i did like seeing how anne thought one dish was perfectly seasoned, and beau thought it was way too salty.  yes!  these people are professionals, and they disagree!  yay!

  • I've decided I can't watch this show. Yes, I know they have limited time but give them some damn skills. They are not doing that.
