Crazy Weather!

Ok... so the weather in Southern CA today is totally nuts.  It is pouring down rain (like slideways rain).  And there was a tornado watch just issued because the wind is blowing like no one's business!  It's crazy here- now if my boss would just send us home!

Anyone else having unusual weather?

Re: Crazy Weather!

  • just snow, snow...and some more snow.  But that isn't all that crazy for Maine in winter!
  • Nothing like that! It is 59 here, though, which I welcome after the weeks of horrible cold we've had. I just wish I got home before dark so I could take the dog out for a good, long walk.
  • Well the sun is actually shining... so yes. Crazy weather here too. :)
  • It's been super foggy here since Friday night, and every night that gets below freezing the fog has been freezing to the trees and building up on them. It's actually quite beautiful, everything is white and shimmery!
  • We're having the same weather in NorCal.  Yesterday we had 60 mph winds... I don't ever remember that happening.  My cousin got sent home because they were without power for an hour this morning and weren't sure when it was going to get fixed.  We're just not used to weather like this in CA.
  • A guy I know said a tornado was spotted off the coast of Huntington beach?  CRAZY....just crazy.....
  • Yup, buckets of snow in Maine.  Nothing unusual, just no fun once it's time to go home.

  • It's SUPER foggy here.  Looks like a Jason movie with scary music...."doo doo doo doo, doo doo doo doo"...

OOOOoo... is it freezing?  We had freezing fog a few days ago.  Trees looked awesome.

  • I spoke to MIL who lives in the hills between Oakland & Berkeley and she said the same thing. they expect 5 separate storm systems to pass through this week and tons of rain. Her big concern is mudslides. She's one of those houses on stilts in at the edge of the canyon (with awesome views of the Bay, but still) and several of her neighbors houses have slid in the past. Fingers crossed that she literally weathers this storm OK.

OH, and DH went to UCLA and laughed when I told him about the weather report because people in SoCal just don't handle it well. Good luck to you all!

  • We've also had freezing fog for the past few days.  On Saturday, I made the switch from my heavy winter coat to my peacoat--we normally have lots of snow, freezing rain, and/or freezing temperatures right now.
    Matt loves Munkii!!!
  • We're warmer than normal for January in MN.  This last weekend is typically the coldest of the season and it was at or above freezing all weekend.  Not complaining!

He is so right!  People in Southern CA are only used to sun, light drizzle, and light wind.  Temps are usually always between 60 and 85!  So 55 degrees with crazy wind and tons of rain is totally unusual.  We have earthquakes, not tornados!!

  • It's definitely warmer here in Atlanta the last couple of days... and I saw tulips popping up on my walk to school. Whoa.
  • We were getting dumping rain and hail even in Oakland CA earlier. Sounds quiet for the moment...
  • A few weeks ago we had the biggest snow storm since I was about 6yrs old, then the temp was well below the norm for a couple weeks, then back up above the norm, and now we're supposed to have a wintery mix tomorrow night.
  • It's been really warm here for January, like above 0. We actually have patches of grass sticking up through the snow. I can't say I really like it because I like snow but it's nice to be able to just go outside in a hoodie and jeans.
