Real Estate questions regarding title

Hey Girls,

When my parents bought their house my sister was on the title and now they would like to take her off, but have no idea how to do it.

Does anyone know how to go about taking someone off a home title?

Thank You

Re: Real Estate questions regarding title

  • Talk to a real estate atty.  But I think it is called a quick claims tittle or deed.  It should just be a matter of signing a couple of papers.  But definetly have them talk to a atty they will know all the details about what it is and how to do it.
  • I know when dh refinanced I was added, if they are looking to do that then it will be simple to take her off. but I agree with pp talk to your real estate attorny. If you are in the western burbs I have a great one I can recommend.
  • Deed and mortgage are two different things.

Refinancing just puts someone on - or takes them off the mortgage but if you arent on the deed then legally the property isnt yours..

You do a quit claim deed to be added or removed the from the title.

You can google quit claim deed; but if you dont feel comfortable contact a real estate atty & its not too expensive.

You can be added to a mortgage or removed from one by a letter and your marriage certificate - depending on the company.
