In addition to the suggestions below, might I also add the Arboretum? It's like the Botanical Gardens, but 1000x better 'cause it's all outdoors. Andplusalso, very few tourists go to it 'cause it's nowhere near the Mall. It's definitely a hidden gem in the back of DC somewhere, but if you have a car, you should really go check it out.
Photography options are marvelous, if for nothing else, the rejected columns from the Capitol.
