I have been having all kinds of pressure today, haven't felt the baby move much, and everything just felt really, really low. I called the doctor, and they told me to come in. My doc said my cervix is much "softer" than she would like it to be at 29 weeks. They did a Fetal Fibronectin (sp?) test today - it can apprently tell if I am at risk of going into labor in the next week to two weeks. The results will come back tomorrow. If it is positive, then I will have to be on bedrest. I am praying that I don't have to do bedrest, major stress. I will update tomorrow with the test results. But, baby's heartbeat is good, so that was a plus!
Re: Test for Preterm Labor
This is legal advice. Circa 2011
hoping all goes well, but if you do get a positive, take it with a grain of salt.
with fetal fibronectin tests (FFN's), the only thing that's a definite are the negative results. negative means you will not go into labor in the next two weeks. a positive result means you have a 15% chance of going into labor in the next two weeks. and it is SO common to have false positives.
i had a positive at 28-29 weeks, and carried to 36 weeks. i probably could have gone another week if baby boy wasn't IUGR.
