For me, it was an iPod. I drooled over one for YEARS then my husband bought me one for our anniversary.

The funny part is he bought me an iPhone for my bday so I guess there's no point to the iPod after all these years?! lol

Iphone. I waited out my two year contract with Sprint to get one. Which is fine because the phone (3gs) is better than the first gen.

This was a few years ago, but I had received a bonus from my job, and finally got my 80gb iPod. It's, of course, not a new iTouch, but it still does its job, and I still love it.

My laptop. I had been wanting a new one for about a year or two and then managed to get a great deal on an HP a few years ago.

The most expensive piece of electronics I have personally purchased was my netbook. I've been lucky in that my college laptop was a graduation gift and my desktop is hand-me-down parts from my DH.

2. How long did you drool over it before you bought it?

Once I decided I wanted one, I think I spent about 6 hours of dedicated research on the net trying to find the perfect netbook before I whipped out the plastic. Not very long, I suppose, but I was desperate to get away from my gargantuan laptop.

A netbbook. I didn't exactly drool over it, I just needed to join the rest of the planet and finally get mobile. Then all hell broke loose and I bought a miniature scanner, a miniature printer, a digital pen, and an airmouse pointer all in the same month.
