He's on a food strike...

All he wants is to BF and eat some oatmeal. ?Since yesterday he has pretty much refused all jar food. ?I know breastmilk is still his primary source of nutrition at this time, but I'm a little concerned as to where my good eater went...He'll eat a few bites and then starts angrily slamming his hands down onto the highchair (I can't tell you how many times food has gone flying all over in the past 24 hours, even when I try to hold his hand down or give him something to play with...) ?Other times, he just looks away and pretends I'm not there...

Do I just go with the flow here? ? Could it be because he's just really learned how to "hit" the highchair and is busy with that? ?I just want to make sure he's eating enough...

TIA?

Re: He's on a food strike...

  • I'd keep trying it all but go with the flow like you said, when he wants it he'll want it....could be due to his new choppers or more on the way...Jackson has been a fuss bucket lately not wanting his am nap and doesn't want to drink alot and wants to bite on the bottles nipples after every time he swallows a sip and not suck consistently...little punk!
  • Caroline has been doing the same thing for a few days (a few bites and then not interested MOST of the time) and in her case, I think it is having to do with the switch from formula to milk and she's protesting maybe???  I dunno....

I'm trying to take a laid back approach and I try a few times, but if she refuses she refuses!  She will eat when she is hungry (last night at dinner she ate like a cow but now today it's been back to the same nonsense).

This is something I never encountered with Jakob, so it's new to me too!

  • Owen is also being a pain with eating.  It may be because I have him a bit of real food and now he thinks he is too big for purees, hey mom give me more of thoes teething biscuits, and what was that stuff I had the other day, pizza crust?  I want that!

He usually has fruit in the morning at daycare and veg with me at ngiht and was having a harder time at night so today we switched and he didn't eat much at daycre, and was not eating as well as usual tonight.  He really wants to play with his food, he wants to hold the spoon, sometimes I let him hold an extra one, he also seems to want to shove his hand into the bowl, IDK!!!  He used to LOVE having his solids.

I bought some YoBaby today and will try that with him tomorrow, we'll see!

I feel your pain and have no real advice!!
