Diva Cup question

Hi, I just bought a diva cup and it hasn't been time to use it yet.

The first time you used it, did you leak or need back-up such as a pantyliner? I want to be prepared in case the first time I use it I don't quite have the hang of it. I'm a little nervous, not gonna lie!

Re: Diva Cup question

  • I used a liner just because I wasn't sure how long to go before emptying. However, I've always used liners with tampons, and never knew you didn't have to...at any rate, by my 2nd cycle with Diva, I had already gained enough experience to know how often to empty, so I haven't used a liner since!

I'd say if you want to have  a little added protection, go for it. Some people do have leak troubles their first cycle or few cycles so it might be in your best interest. Really you're not going to know until you try.

Congrats btw, you're going to really enjoy the benefits of the cup, even with some growing pains, I will NEVER go back! Good Luck!

  • I didn't but you can if it makes you feel better :)  You can tell if it's inserted properly; it just doesn't feel right if it's not.  Give yourself some time to figure it out.  Good luck!!
  • Thanks!

  • I used backup for several months. It took me a bit of time to figure everything out so that it didn't leak at all. Now, I don't need to use anything else.
  • I always use a liner with it (I have cloth ones). I don't have much leaking, but something about my anatomy just always needs a liner--even in my tampon days.

  • I used a liner during my first cycle. I think it's a good idea while you get used to it.
  • I used a liner for the first 2 days because I just felt safer that way.  But I never have had any leaks, even at the beginning.  So don't get too worried - you may be like me and not have any leaking problems!

  • I'd have some sort of backup for peace of mind, but you probably won't need it.

  • I also used a liner during my first cycle with the Diva just in case, but I don't need it at all anymore.  I even do yoga using the Diva, and haven't had any leak problems at all. I hope you like the Diva, I LOVE IT.

  • I love my Diva Cup. I used a liner the first few days as well. I didn't need it though. haha I recommend before you start though to see which fold method works best for you so you don't get frustrated like I did haha :)

  • There is a bit of a learning curve, so you might leak a bit at first, definitely have a liner in case.
