Fingers crossed (apartment related)

We finally found an apartment that we love, in an area we love, with amenities we love (including a wine fridge as a super fabulous bonus). The only thing that stopped us from signing on the dotted line last night was that a) we weren't sure if Direct TV would work - it's got a balcony that faces east, but the satellite could angle south (they way it needs to go) we're just not sure if it will angle south enough. Man is calling them today and b) Man didn't like that the manager wasn't wearing a suit. So that makes him sketchy.

Also, there was a couple (well two people) viewing the place immediately after us. Here's hoping they didn't snatch it.

I'm not confident but I'm hopeful.

  • I sure hope that it didn't get taken.

You weren't sure, over DirectTV?  Hmmmm.

  • Did the compromise talk go down?

  • O-Face, we have another 1.5 years on the contract with them, so we can't get rid of it. That's why it's an issue. We loved the place, but if we can't have our Direct Tv we're effed.

  • Oh! That's what I was wondering too.

I got nothing about the suit.

  • aahhhhh.  See, I was under the assumption that you worshipped your tv.  But now I understand.  Damn contracts!

  • Yes, Nola it did. We don't really want to compromise if we don't have to, but we're willing to take a couple of things off the table if something is 99.5% perfect otherwise (including price). E.g. if it's a great location, great price, etc. he's willing to give up the fitness center requirement and spend $25/month on a gym. If it's the w/d that must be given up, it's okay as long as there isn't just one set per building of 50 people. That's a huge problem he has with his place right now - 50+ people to 4 washer/dryers.

  • Teh w/d is a big deal. I hope you guys get it.

  • Those are all reasonable demands. I loved my little house in North Park, but hated not having a w/d. The laundramat is a sketchy place, my friend.
