I was getting ready this morning and had a local news station on. They were interviewing one of our senators, Jon Kyl, about healthcare reform.
Kyl drafted the bill that led to Medicare Part D which gives seniors drug benefits. The newscaster pointed out that Kyl is blocking healthcare reform, but in 2003 obviously drafted this legislation. And Kyl states it's because the healthcare bill costs too much and doesn't address other issues. The newscaster then pointed out that Part D was expected to cost around $400 billion, but has cost more along the lines of $1.2 trillion. His retort: I didn't know we were going to be talking about this and don't have my numbers handy.
Right. The next shot was the newscaster stating when they contacted Kyl's office they said they wanted to talk about healthcare reform. Unfortunately, the old people here in AZ love these feckers so he'll stay in office as long as he wants.
