Rec your favorite (non-salon) shampoo/ conditioner

My hair tends to be on the dry side, but all recs are welcome.

Re: Rec your favorite (non-salon) shampoo/ conditioner

  • My hair is pretty dry too. I actually use Suave Daily Clarifying shampoo and Pantene Classic Clean conditioner. The trick for me has been to use as little as possible to get the job done, so usually no more than about a nickle size of either product.

If you're worried about getting styling product out, usually rinsing hair well with warm water will get the majority of it out thus necessitating less shampoo (unless you're using a silicone based product, then you'll need to shampoo a little more).

  • I use TRESemme Vitamin E Moisture Rich shampoo and conditioner.  Yes

  • Herbal Essence Moisturizing.
  • John Frieda Brunette Moisturizing shampoo and conditioner
  • My scalp is a little oily, but my hair has some damage from highlights that makes it dry.

Lately, I've been using the Suave Professionals Damage Care Shampoo & Conditioner.  It's like $3/bottle each, and I get it at HEB.  My hair feels softer now than when I was using the $$$ aveda stuff.

(FWIW, due to my slightly oily scalp + dry hair, I don't use the conditioner on my scalp--just the bottom half of my hair and the ends of my shorter (bangs) layers.)

  • Burt's Bees Green Tea and & Fennel Seed

I just bought the raspberry & brazil nut one (extra moisturizing) but it smells like I dunked my hair in bicardi raz.  I'm going back to the Green Tea one.

  • I use the Aussie brand stuff and really like it!

See, that's what I'm using now and my hair = straw.

Xtina ~ Hilarious.  I wish my hair smelled like Bicardi.

Me too.  I like it.  I do get build up from it, well most shampoo conditioners, so I use the Paul Mitchel Shampoo 3 once a week or so to get rid of that.

  • Shampoo: Aussie root cleanser/tip mender

    Conditioner: Aussie Moist

Every now and then I do their deep conditioner.

  • I really like Loreal Everpure shampoo. I use the volumizing one and I find that it moisturizes as well. I like the scent better than any of the others (Pantene, Herbal Essences, et al). It's a pretty mild rosemary scent. I have not tried the conditioner, though. I have not found a drugstore conditioner that I like, so I always go back to Wella Color Care (?) or Redken Smooth Down. HTH!

  • A month ago I would have said Bed Head hands down.  However, Duck's cousin started using Mane and Tail and was raving about it.  I tried it and Im convinced.  I still use Bed Head after party as a leave in conditioner because my hair gets tangled very badly, especially when wet.  But using the Mane and Tail not only helps my bank account, but it has done an amazing job at making my hair healthier, stronger and shinier.

  • I use the ION brand at Sally's - works great for fine, dry, colored treated hair.
