You know how...

some of us here torture oursleves by looking at pets we can't adopt, or children we can't adopt...I do the same thing, but with homes. I run down the clock at work by checking out local real estate.

I have realized some things:

1) I will never live on Shrill Street or Pullin Road.

2) We will need a fenced yard, for the dog(s).

3) More than one bathrrom is a must. I will use the master. H and any potential children can share/split whatever is left over.

4) An ATTACHED garage is a must.

5) I'm a sucker for colonials.

Re: You know how...

  • Oh, and if there are more than two homes for sale on a block, I assume there was a murder/suicide in the neighborhood, and everyone is fleeing.

  • I absolutely love my house. It's perfect for us. But I can't help but cheat on it with Realtor.com. It pisses me off to no end when agents just put 4 crappy photos up. I want to see more dammit! And make them good. It's like being a peeping tom or voyeur without all that pesky police stuff.

  • Yes, the more photos, the better. And I get pissy if I can't see if the yard is gated.

  • 2 places to eliminate = a must.

seriously.  I need to not die when someone hogs the bathroom.  I grew up w/ 3 and it sometimes wasn't enough :-P

  • This is why my monster house rocks. DH has been going to work at 6 am, which means he's up at 5 am. There is no way in hell I want to be woken up that early so he just sneaks out quietly and uses one of the other bathrooms.
  • Also, looking at houses online provides ANOTHER way to judge people and their sense of style/design.

  • I do this all the time, and just got H hooked on it too. I like to look at the $20-40M places. He prefers the $1-3M range. I say they're both unrealistic, so why not go balls to the wall?
  • I didn't even know they would make houses as expensive as they do here. I guess the provost has to live somewhere?

  • Yes, that is fun too. I like looking at houses and imagining what I'd do with 3 pools, 2 master suites, and a gigantic outdoor kitchen.
