Oil Cleansing Method

For those of you that do the OCM, which oils do you use?  I saw the article on OCM and they use Castor Oil and Sunflower Oil.  I really want to try this!  Help!

Re: Oil Cleansing Method

  • I want to try it too... but I felt I got in too late for the group that did it last time.

    I would love info too...

  • I use Grapeseed oil and Castor Oil.  About an 80/20 mix.
    nothing
  • lol Roni! You can do it alone!

I just use coconut oil. Its all I had when I wanted to try it and it works for me. I tried grapeseed and had a bad reaction to it.

  • Castor and Olive.  It really did work well for me, but I got lazy with it.  I just don't have 5-10 minutes at night to just stand there with a towel over my face.  Now I only do it once a week as a treatment sort of thing.

Why does it take so long?  It takes maybe 20 seconds for me to massage it in, then about a minute to steam and rinse.
I like an olive oil/castor oil blend (70/30%), but when i'm lazy i use jojoba oil.

I steam for close about 2 minute and do it twice.  Otherwise I find not all the oil comes out and I break out where it doesn't.  Maybe I just need to switch oils?

  • I use straight jojoba oil - one bottle, no mixing required.
  • Castor (20%), EVOO (80%), with some tea tree mixed in for good measure.

I've also kind of let it slide, but mixed with a bit of sugar it's the best facial scrub I've ever used. Very gentle, gets rid of all the mid-winter dry patches.

  • I'm still experimenting because I only started in the past month.

I use a squirt of joboba, and sometimes add a few drops of tea tree or eucalyptus.  I only do it other day, but it's really helped tame my winter flakey skin problems.
